having never lived close to cousins since having our own kids, we haven't really known what we've been missing, but it sure is fun living within an hour of some cousins here in texas. david and julie's family came up for memorial day weekend. they stayed the night sunday night so that we could get in some good game playing. we put the older two girls in the office, lily in our bathroom, and david and julie in the living room. they ended up wearing some fun hats in the morning :)
for whatever reason, lily is not a fan of me. pretty much any time i hold her she cries and cries. she was happy and awake in the morning, so i went in to get her. she was not so thrilled to see me at first, but amazingly she let me pick her up and hold her for several minutes - even with her mom laying right there on the bed!
and then monday morning we found a place that was more fun than we ever imagined! we went to pick blackberries at the p-6 farm in montgomery.
they had awesome john deere wagons for everyone to use. the kids hopped right in as we got our berry picking buckets.
the first fun thing we came across was this awesome duck racing station! we could hardly drag the kids away to check out the other fun stuff.
next stop was these huge slides! they were big enough that the adults could just about sit up straight!
there were also some bumpy slides. they were so funny to ride down!
we got the kids to hold still long enough to snap a couple of pictures!
we tried to organize a couple of races in these...things. we mostly just rescued kids from falling head over heels and laughed so hard!
the huge tire tower was the last stop along before catching the berries.
we had to do a bit of training on what berries were ripe and ready to pick.
cody loved picking them to fill up his bucket and we definitely got some huge and delicious berries to take home!
julie found a great nest with three tiny baby birds in it :)
we somehow missed the tether ball courts on the way in, but they would be fun to stop and play on with some adults.
lily was a great sport and hung out in our backpack for the day.
we thought we were just getting to pick some blackberries, but we loved all the 'extras' we got to explore. and it was all free to play!
