toothless

cody's had a bit of tooth trauma in the past year and a half.  when he was almost 2, he fell on a stool and nearly knocked out one of his front teeth.  it managed to right itself and hung on.  a year later, his cousin, ashlee, accidentally kicked him in the face (he walked behind her on a swing).  somehow she got the same tooth.  we thought for sure it would fall out this time, but again it hung on.  well, we went to the dentist a couple of weeks ago and dr. joe found a little bit of infection under the tooth and thought we should go ahead and take it out.  they gave us two weeks to wiggle it out, but it wasn't even close...  we ended up going in to have dr. joe take it out.

cody was pretty nervous, but he took his turtle and the assistant knew just how to use that to her advantage and he was at ease in just a few minutes - even before the gas.

isaac and i just sat and watched.  he was so good and helpful.

cody told everyone who came in the room about our new van (that we got more than a month ago) and its magic doors.  i love how good they all are with kids and how attentive they were to everything cody wanted to tell them.

the gas made cody a little loopy.  on the way home, he took off one of his boots because he said it had flies in it.  then he hugged it to his chest the rest of the way home.

we were sent home with a toothless three year old!

grandma berta told him he'd be the envy of all the kindergartners when he gets to kindergarten....in another year and a half!

we found a pattern for a tooth pillow that cody liked to help him get excited about losing a tooth.  we spent a year and a half telling him to be careful with eating super hard things and to not wiggle it, so it took some work to convince him it was time for the tooth to come out.  he picked out the pattern and fabric himself.

he got to watch cars when we got home while the gas wore off (giving me a chance for a bit of a nap).

we got our koala crate (perfect timing!) and pulled it out after naptime. it has lots of fun color activities.  we'll just do a few here and there to make it last.

cody was so excited to be able to paint and see how the colors change when you mix them.

the tooth fairy came that night and brought a gold dollar.  grandma berta read cody a story about a kid who got a dime from the tooth fairy, so he told everyone that he got a dime.  i guess the tooth fairy could have easily saved herself a little money!
