newport beach day

since ryan had a test on friday, he had the weekend mostly off from studying. we thought it would be a good opportunity to check out the beach when we actually had time. we borrowed an umbrella and boogie boards from some neighbors and headed off to the beach with some new med school friends. i did remember the camera and even pulled it out....baby steps.
ryan's carpool buddy, ward, and his family came to the beach with us. misa (their little girl) became my best buddy when i sat and played with her at the edge of the waves. we made sand castles, splashed, put on sand shoes, and got very wet in a few of the big waves.
ryan and ward tried out the boogie boards while i stayed safely close to the shore. ryan ended up liking body surfing better, so the boogie boards didn't get too much use. more med school friends joined us part way through the day and jon, who is a beach-going veteran, taught ryan the finer points of body surfing and they both came out of the waves pretty red and sore.

I am glad you had a chance to relax a little. Also, good luck with the start of work for you as well.
