official white coat

its been almost a month since ryan's white coat ceremony, but i just got the pictures from his mom (i forgot my camera as always). before classes actually started, all of the medical students in ryan's class participated in a white coat ceremony where they received their first white coat. you may notice that its a little shorter than most doctors wear, but that's because the short coat distinguishes students from doctors.

ryan's parents came up for the weekend and participated in all the festivities with us. it was fun, as always, to have family come visit.

ryan's almost a month into school now. he's had a few overwhelming days, but seems to be keeping up and studying hard. he even makes time to hang out with me everyday....i feel so spoiled. he had his first test last friday and is already well on his way to the next one in another two weeks.

Stupid short coats. They keep telling the students to think of their mentors and teachers as 'peers', but then some focus on the short coats. Apparently some docs and residents get pretty ticked to see a student wearing a long coat sometimes.... so weird- patients don't care!
