when the wind's from the east

we had a big wind storm yesterday morning.  our power went out not too long after we woke up.  luckily we have a gas stove, so we just lit the burners with matches and still had a good, hot breakfast before ryan had to go to school.
(i had the lovely day off).

before we parted ways for the day, we expressed the common wish that maybe our horribly rotted out fence/gate would blow down in the wind so the homeowner would have to replace it or at the very least fix the part where the fence almost fell down every time someone touched it or tried to open it.
(the management company's been trying to get him to do it for months)

and guess what...

it worked!

we, and several of our friends, have had a good laugh about it.  its still laying there just like in the picture.  we'll see how long it takes for the homeowner's association to get after the owner to fix it.
