the long awaited....

i thought it was probably about time to take a picture of my growth and now i'm finally getting around to posting it.  we got a new camera for christmas, so we're (read - "i") trying trying to be better at taking pictures.

so what's your week number guess?
i was told for weeks that i was so small and then people started to say i was 'definitely showing' and now i'm having people say 'you've really popped!'

its hard to know what to say to those comments....'um...thanks?'

its interesting to hear all the responses to our pregnancy, from pre-announcing...
- 'its so nice that you can work to support your husband through school and don't have to worry about kids'
- 'you're so young.  you don't need to have kids yet'

to finally announcing...
- the many customary 'congrats'
- 'how perfect that you can finish the school year before you have the baby!'
- 'what crazy/bad timing with ryan's test coming up'
(ryan's step one huge test is about a week or so after our due date)
- the loving hugs and near tears from those who know how long we've been waiting and the losses we've had before

needless to say, we're excited regardless of whatever the timing may be.  as anyone who has been through one or more miscarriage or had any difficulty conceiving can attest to i'm sure, whenever you are finally blessed with the opportunity to carry a child, you take it and know that you can figure out all those little details later.  our lives don't revolve around when i finish work or ryan's schooling, but around our family.  this child will be our whole life and whole world.  finishing up a school year or taking a test is just a small moment.  good thing the lord knows what is the best time for us and knows that we'll be able to take everything in stride as it comes.

luckily i have some pretty awesome parents who are able and willing to come out and be my second half while ryan's studying his life away after the baby comes.  we'll both be busy and sleep deprived i'm sure.  but what could be more worth it?

p.s.  happy valentine's day :)

Katie, you look great! I love your perspective about having a baby, and I'm so glad you are pregnant and that things are going well.

I'm guessing you are 24 or 25 weeks along in the picture, right? You look fantastic!

Congratulations to the two of you--having a baby is such a blessing. :)

I didn't know you guys struggled with miscarriages and all that, but I love the beautiful attitude you have. So eloquently put. It's too bad more of us don't feel that way.

Well, looking at your due date and counting back, I would say you are 26 weeks.
You're looking good. I always think its fun to finally be showing.

I am going to guess that you took this picture a couple of weeks ago and you are 23 weeks. I don't know if I was ever this small. :) You look so good. I am so excited for you guys!

I'd say you're like 47 weeks. Wait how many weeks in a pregnancy again? Time just runs together weird anyway. Psalms 127: 4-5 "As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them" Parenthood is wonderful. My wife and I want more kids. We have one now, you know, and she's just a little sweetheart. Hey Ryan, are you sure you still want to be a doctor when Obama is going to make you pull the plug on Grandma for minimum wage? Ha ha ha. I'm exaggerating a little but seriously folks, we all need to do what we can to get ObamaCare repealed, that's what I think.

Gage and I have had our share of trying to get pregnant and yes, having miscarriages. I am due during an important seminar weekend for school, and Gage right smack during midterms. I can't believe the grief I have been getting about "planning the due date" and not being able to work because I have been sick. It is nice to know that some people (like you) have the right perspective on family and what is really important. Thanks for sharing and have a happy and healthy pregnancy!!!
