we've been thinking about getting a car for ryan's rotations (a car that's a little more reliable....don't tell buford or chris). so last weekend, we finally went out to look at a few in the l.a. area. it took some arm twisting, but as we drove through the middle of hollywood i convinced ryan to stop for a few minutes so we could play tourist.
we didn't even realize that we were there the same weekend as the academy awards, but for those of you who might think its cool.....
they had all the bleachers and tents set up with tons of security and the red carpets were all rolled up and ready to go. we did a quick walk up and down the walk of stars and stopped by the chinese theater where famous people (like bing crosby, the cast from harry potter, the cast from the orignal star trek, and the cast of star wars) have left hand and foot prints in the cement.
one guy who's car we checked out recommended that we head just up the hill to griffith observatory to check out the view. he was right and it was totally worth the small hike to get up there. it had rained the day before, so all the usual nasty smog was gone. of course we didn't think to bring our camera, so here's a couple shots with our itouch.
i think i'm 27 weeks here...with the hollywood sign in the background and i promise that's not the only shirt i ever wear.
we swung by the l.a. temple on our way down south. we had planned on stopping for a session, but we could only do a quick trip of the visitor's center. we're still hoping we can make it out there before we leave the area.
we ended up on the south end of the l.a. area for dinner. we happened upon a little cuban/spanish cafe. ryan was pretty thrilled to get to have some paella just like he had it in spain....or at least close.
we did end up finding a car, but that post will have to wait until we actually pick it up. i know, the suspense is killing you :)
