while ryan was busy working, cody and i took a few days off to travel up to utah with grandma berta and grandpa brucester. we met them in st. george where we stayed with my uncle barry and aunt karen.
a bunch of cousins, aunts, and uncles were planning on going to see 'aladdin' at tuacahn (an outdoor amphitheater) that night. i planned to stay home with cody, but there happened to be an extra ticket, so we left cody with a babysitter and i got to see it too. it was a really fun show, but it was super hot. when we got out to the car afterwards, it was 103!
i saw all kinds of family i don't get to see often, but forgot to pull out my camera except to snap a quick picture of the theater entrance.
cody and i stayed the next night with our other bishop family, tish, chris, and tucker. my good friend, heather dewaal, even came down for a few hours to hang out with us. it was fun to reminisce about the high school and eac days.
and of course i forgot to pull out my camera again.
tish and chris drove us up to salt lake the next morning. we met up with nisha collette and her new baby girl, lenora. beth and chris came over from rock springs and my parents came down from park city, so we found a park near temple square to have lunch.
beth and chris were meeting up with some wyoming friends after lunch, so the rest of us went to check out the church history museum.
the little boys were good sports while we looked around at some of the artwork, but they really had fun when we went to the kids area. tucker and cody dressed up for a little mexican step dancing.
cody really got into it and we could hardly get him away from that area.
the girls took their turn dressing up and doing a little dancing.
cody did a bit of driving...
and fishing...
while tucker worked on building nephi's boat.
they spent some time working in the garden, matching shapes
and cody showed grandma the chickens and what they say
(we'll have to try and catch that sound on video sometime)
my cousin, tyson, just got home from his mission, so my aunt carol jean and uncle jon hosted a big party for him at their house where we got to see a good portion of the extended bishop family. it was so fun to see cousins that i keep up with, via their blogs, and spend time catching up in person.
cody saw the pool as soon as we walked through the gate and was just about diving out of my arms to get in. uncle chris was nice enough to take him swimming for a little while with caitlin and ashlee before i got in.
even julie happened to be in utah the same days, so she and her girls made it over for the party.
all in all i got to see aunt julie and uncle mike, uncle ray and aunt bev (with several of their grandkids, plus my cousin michelle), uncle jon and aunt carol jean (with all of their kids and most of their grandkids), uncle barry and aunt karen (with all their kids, except ryan, and their families). i never expected to see so much extended family in one trip!!
