during 4th year, medical students get 4 weeks of vacation that they can schedule wherever they want in between rotations. ryan had his first vacation this week in between anesthesia and e.r. we made sure to take full advantage of some family time while he was home.
we headed to l.a. on tuesday for free day at the natural history museum of los angeles.
we saw lots and lots of dinosaurs and all kinds of other animals.
they had big halls of animal (stuffed) set up in exhibits of their home environment. cody loved those areas the best because there was lots of room to run from one exhibit to the next.
the california science center was in the same museum complex, so we headed over for a few minutes. it was quite as fun and exciting as the discovery science center we went to a few weeks ago, but they did have chicks hatching that cody loved watching. one chick was out of his shell and cody was just mesmerized by it.
with ryan home to help and some cooler mornings, we decided we'd wash the cars. cody always wants to be helpful, so we put his 'flipper-floppers' on and went out. he helped fill up the buckets.
he got a rag of his very own
and helped wash for about 7 seconds.
mostly he just played in the many buckets of water we brought out for him
and splashed in every puddle he could find.
cody loved having ryan go to the library with us and having an extra story reader in the morning.

he also got to be quite good at a few more words
we won't have another week long vacation until january when we'll go from 3 to 4, so now we just take advantage of every morning, afternoon, or weekend that ryan is home.
