look at that face. so content. so innocent. just happily playing in his favorite area in the house. just moments before we confirmed....
hand foot and mouth disease.
we had quite a case go from cody to ryan to isaac (i escaped!). ryan got it the worst as far as we can tell, but since its mostly just contagious through spit, he still worked and lived with the painful blisters on his hand and feet. aside from the fevers before the blisters, i wouldn't have ever even known cody and isaac had it. they just went about life as usual. the most miserable part was staying home from all our normal activities (church, gym, storytime) to keep from spreading it.
we tried to keep busy at home
we did a little doctoring, first with a belt
(which he came up and asked to listen to my heart with)
and then a disposable stethoscope from halloween a few years ago. cody loves to play with ryan's 'special' (we told him once that it was dad's special tool that he had to be very careful with)
isaac discovered the tunnel and he and cody chased each other through it laughing harder and harder all the time.
cody got pretty good at putting together his 5 little ladybugs puzzle.
isaac tried some very cold watermelon and we giggled at his reactions
he made quite the mess of avocado too!
i finally pulled out some ideas from our family fun magazine and let cody put pipe cleaners through a colander. didn't last too long...
i clearly interrupted isaac at a bad time in his practicing. excuse the dirty look.
cody loves to wear hats and come up with some pretty awesome combos.
luckily the effects of the hand foot and mouth didn't last too long and we're back in action now!
