its been a while, so i thought i would take a break from washing the car and repotting some plants and cleaning the house and do a little bit of blogging.
we got our 'garden' planted. we don't have a lot of ground space, seeing as we're on the second level of an apartment complex. we thought we would try some pots and hope for the best.
we went with tomatos, peppers, cucumbers, parsley, thyme, and basil this year. maybe next year we'll get even more ambitious. everything is doing pretty well so far. i'm definitely enjoying the fresh herbs to cook with...even if i have only used them twice :)
we're down to 10 more weeks of school and 8 more for ryan. not that we're counting. not that we've been counting since it was well over 20...or 40. ok, i wrote down on my calendar how many weeks are left of school so its easy to keep track. we have both passed spring break. ryan's spring break was two weeks before mine, so he mostly stayed home to relax while i worked and i went to arizona to hang out with my family while he went to school. i didn't even take my camera (big surprise) so i don't have any pictures. annie took one when we went to the arboretum, so maybe i'll get her to send me one. while in thatcher i...
- hiked around the boyce thompson arboretum
- finished my jean quilt
- learned how to make scrubbers from netting
- crocheted around a blanket...number 6 or 7 that i've done now
- went to lunch with mom and annie at casa manana where i used to work and was asked if i was back and wanted a job...no thanks :)
- went shopping at all three new clothes stores in downtown safford and only bought something at the thrift store (two new dresses for $5 to replace my favorite dress that was cut off in this accident)
- went to quilting class
- worked out at the gym every day
- sang with a cappella choir
- dried pineapple
among other things. it was a great trip. i'll let you in on what we did during ryan's spring break a little later. back to the cleaning.

SO jealous! I was getting all smug and proud of myself as I started to make weekly (or more) homemade whole wheat bread, planted an herb garden, and made meals from scratch nearly every night. I babied my herbs, so excited to have them for cooking. Reality bit me, however, when my herb garden promptly died, our fridge overflowed with leftovers, and the bread novelty wore off. Sigh. You always were a domestic inspiration, though.
I'm impressed with your garden. We planted one tomato plant and it died within a week! I think it froze one night when we were out of town.
