we are a family of avid readers. it comes from both the bishop and varga sides. happily, cody is picking up on this reading stuff. he got tons of books for christmas. we had to clear an extra shelf in the living room to hold more of his board books. not to mention the entire bottom shelf of paperback books and various other board books that we keep in his room.
his morning usually progresses something like this
(captured over multiple days)
the first book out is almost always his snowman book
(he pulled it out like this and it got stuck)
he loves to feel the pages. we've got it down pretty well, so we can recite whatever page we see he's opened to.
he likes to pull most of the books off the bottom shelf
and he can finally reach the books on the top shelf
by the time he's done, every day, the living room looks something like this.
he does sit down and look at a few too. he takes after his cousin, caitlin, and learned how to turn pages early on, so he'll sit and flip through the pages he can maneuver.
here he is reading 'la oruga muy hambrienta' with dad.

i love how good he is even at flipping the little pages.
and of course, he loves to be read to, especially if you let him turn the pages.
he even loves to flip through whatever mom's reading at the time, if its left within reach.
i checked out my goodreads.com page and discovered that i read 49 books in 2011. i guess i better shoot for 50 this year. i only have 140 books on my 'to-read' list, so i think maybe i'll have enough to keep me busy.

My favorite part of the video is when he is "hitting" Ryan's hand because its in the way and he wants to turn the page.
So cute! If I let Tucker have any control over the books they go straight into his mouth. Maybe Cody will have a little more luck showing him what we do with them :).
