marianne and landon moved up to fort worth/dallas area last summer. we sure miss having them close by, but it gave us a great excuse to go up for a visit and see a bit of the city. ryan had a couple more weeks of working nights this month, so we begged marianne to let us come up for a few days this week.
i'm pretty sure that not more than 10 minutes passed after we got there before every single toy they own was out and being explored. the kids had so much fun together!
cody spent a good chunk of time practicing the harmonica.
we decided to do a little outing on wednesday morning and go to see the fort worth stockyards. we got as bundled up as we could, but we couldn't believe how cold it was!! the wind about blew us away.
isaac and kate definitely lucked out to get to snuggle down in the blankets in the stroller!
we stopped in the visitors center for a few minutes to warm up and then ran out to catch the longhorns. they are pretty awesome to see! twice a day the cowboys at the stockyard do a little cattle drive and basically take the cows out for a walk :)
everything else was closed for the cold/middle of the week/winter, so we improvised with a great carousel ride.
we ducked into a restaurant for some hot chocolate and lunch when we couldn't stand the cold anymore.
there were lots of saddles mounted on wooden horses around, so cody couldn't resist going for a ride.
back at the house, we filled our time with lots of playing as well as some painting,
a very fancy tea party,
and finished the night with a concert on the 'frozen' karaoke machine (we just turned on the mic)
capri impressed everyone by opening the concert with the national anthem
cody favored us with the abc's and i love to see the temple
and isaac pretty much just stood and made up his own melodies.
we took a trip to ikea on our way out with marianne and her girls. cody and capri had a blast in the kids play area while we shopped. maybe next time isaac can join them :)
the whole trip was so fun. thanks for the great time!!
