for some reason, i think i just completely forgot about my camera for most of the month of november. we had lots of fun visitors around thanksgiving and i didn't even take hardly any pictures.
grandma berta got here first. she spend a couple of days down at david's and then came up here for a couple of days. she made the boys a dance floor and they sang many songs with dances!
annie and grandpa came on wednesday afternoon.
great-grandma found this band hat at a yard sale. we couldn't fit it in our suitcases when we were there, so annie brought it in her suitcase for grandma along with a couple of pairs of 'farmers.' isaac insisted on taking his pants off so he could put on the farmers as soon as he saw them. he loved the hat, but had to hold his head just so to keep it on long enough to take a picture (he's saying 'cheese').
julie did a 5k in the woodlands on thanksgiving morning, so annie, grandma, cody, and i met her there to watch the girls while she ran (david stayed home for his turkey bowl). we planned on walking around for a bit, but found this fun area with face painting and balloon animals that took up all the race time.
cody and bailey waited patiently to get a dragon
and 'elsa'
we got straight in line for the balloons after the face painting. cody picked a sword after he saw a bunch of other boys playing with them. he had so much fun, but was crushed when he fell and it popped on the way back to the car.
ryan got this crazy idea to wrap the turkey in bacon this year, so he was hard at work while we were gone to the race.
i have to admit it looked pretty cool when it was done - even if it didn't taste much different than any other turkey. all of dinner was delicious and extra fun with so much family here!
the awesome turkey did come with a price. ryan got a pretty good steam burn across his fingers (the picture doesn't really do it justice) when he opened it up. he didn't roam far from his bowl of ice water for the rest of the day!
everyone stayed with us on thanksgiving night, so we had quite a houseful. it was fun to stay up and play games after the kids went to bed. annie, julie, and i got up early-ish and did a bit of black friday shopping. pretty sure we all got more than we originally planned, but we found some awesome deals and i saved tons on christmas presents!
