halloween festivities

for some reason i caught the halloween bug this year and our festivities spread throughout the month with some fun extras.

cody actually decided what he wanted to be this year for halloween and grandma berta tipped us off about some fun additions to his costume that we could find at the dollar store.  can you guess?

our first halloween treat happened because ryan was working late and i just didn't want to do a lot of dinner prep :/  i saw an idea for mummy dogs somewhere, so cody helped me out making them and then watched them cook.

i thought they turned out pretty cute.  we even ended up making them again when david's family came up and they loved them too.

david and julie came up this way to run a race in huntsville a couple of weeks before halloween, so after the racing and lunch we went to the pumpkin patch at the 7 acre wood down the street.  cody and isaac loved the big tractor.

they have lots of fun things for kids, but it was packed.  we ended up not staying too long.

i missed the neighborhood costume parade because i was doing a doterra thing, but ryan took the boys.  it sounded like it was lots of fun.

we, of course, got decked out in costumes to go story time before halloween.

cody the knight.

robin hood isaac.

cody's friend, olivia, was batgirl for halloween and wore her costume to the library.  cody put on his batman cape a day or two later and asked me to take a picture to send to olivia to show that he had one too.

the day before halloween we made jack-o-pancakes.  super fun and tasty - especially since i came up with the idea on my own and not from pinterest ;)

when ryan got home, we did our pumpkin carving.  isaac and cody picked the shapes they wanted and we cut them out.

clearly cody's interest waned pretty quickly.

but they both loved the finished products.

we kept dinner quick and easy with mummy cheese crisps and tomato soup.

halloween morning we used some cupcake liners and toothpicks from grandma berta to make muffins.  i think cody and isaac each ate even more than usual (which is a lot) so they could have one of each toothpick!

we had the ward trunk or treat a few days before halloween (and actually went this year), so we didn't go by too many houses for trick or treating, but the boys had a great time!

we still had halloween candy on our counter from last halloween, so hopefully we don't follow that same trend this year!
