az or bust

ryan's in the midst of rotation #2 - internal medicine.  the doctor he is working with works monday thru friday from 9 a.m. to noon, so its left us a little bit of down time.  during his first week, the doctor took thursday and friday off, so we thought it would be the perfect time for a trip to arizona.  

we spent a couple of days in thatcher with my parents and annie.  my parents didn't hesitate to get rid of us so they could hang out with cody for a bit.  

we went to see

before we left, we got dad to watch cody (it took some major convincing ;) while we went to the temple.  my mom was working, so we got to see her there.

we went from thatcher to tucson to spend a couple of days with ryan's sister, who wasn't able to come to the blessing.  no pictures....  we had fun playing games, swimming, taking walks, and hanging out eating fantastic caramel popcorn.  

cody definitely didn't love riding in the car on the way to arizona.  he had a bit of a hard time sleeping, since he tends to smack himself in the face sometimes when he's sleeping.  he did better once we figured out how we could swaddle him in his carseat.

ryan's other sister blessed her new baby the next weekend, so we took another  trip to az.  this time, it was not quite so smooth.  just past the california border we hit some kind of dirt clod that gave us two flat tires.  luckily aaa was super fast getting to us and towed us to phoenix...

where we hung out at a&w for 2 or 3 hours.

ryan's parents were awesome enough to drive up to phoenix with a trailer to take us back to sierra vista.  we got there about 4 a.m. and i was amazed when everyone was up and at 'em by 8 and i was the only one who took a nap (also the only one who didn't drive at all and slept in the car most of the way to sierra vista).  

luckily the only damage to the car was a couple of bent rims.  all the tires were fine, so we got new rims and hubcaps and were on our way.

we did make it to the blessing on sunday and got a family picture with the whole varga crew before we had to head home.

now we're enjoying the rest of ryan's relaxing feeding our addiction to this...

and having all kinds of other fun to come...
