lovin' from my {sun} oven

we have some fun cooking gadgets that we've been utilizing the past few months.  

first a sun oven.

we got a sun oven for this upcoming christmas (my mom is on top of things).  perfect for cooking in california when you don't want to heat up the house.  we have tried it out a couple of times.  first for my birthday cake (should have taken a picture) and then for hot dogs at the beach on this trip. 

next a pressure canner.

my mom came a few days before cody was born and we were busy in the kitchen canning beef and beans.  since then i've canned some chicken and tomatos.  now our shelves look like this.

we also have jam, pinto beans, applesauce, and apple pie filling on other shelves.  so tasty!

lastly, our dehydrator.

we got this one last year for christmas and have been trying out all kinds of dehydrated foods.  

we've done fruit: pineapple, peaches, nectarines, mango, plums

and more recently we've tried green and red peppers. 

we're excited to try other fruits and veggies as they come into season.


and with all our cooking and baking, we're making sure someone learns how to lick the spoon....even if it doesn't have anything delicious on it yet
