no apples and bananas yet, but for breakfast this morning, cody had his first taste of solid food
(we don't count the time one of my dad's students decided to let him try an animal cracker without asking)
we were going to wait until december, but over the past week or so, cody has begun to be more and more interested in food. he likes to sit in his booster during meals (he whines and cries if we leave him playing in the living room while we eat) and watches intently as we eat. we decided he was ready to give it a shot.
at first he seemed to think maybe his new bib was the special treat for the day
but the bowl and spoon quickly became more interesting
even with the first bite, cody was reaching out to help hold the spoon and didn't even make any crazy faces or lose most of the food down his chin.
i think he and solid foods will get along just fine
in other cody news....
cody is able to hold his own bottle. he's not terribly efficient at just eating when he holds it though. he prefers to gnaw on the nipple (which he does with his sippy cup too) and blow out while its in his mouth....maybe he's hoping for bubbles like you get from blowing in a straw....who knows.
cody's got the sitting thing all figured out. he can sit and balance well for a pretty good chunk of time. he's still a champion at getting up on his hands and knees, but he can't quite figure out how to move his arms forward individually. the most he does is push himself backwards a little bit at a time or face-plant when he moves his legs forward. he's just starting to figure out that he can get around by rolling over and over. he'll get it figured out in no time i'm sure!
