leavin' on a jet plane

here we are taking off on cody's first big airplane ride.

cody didn't really seem to love or hate flying, but he sure loved being in arizona to see his grandmas and grandpas and aunts and uncles and cousins.

first thing when we got to arizona (after a good night's sleep), we helped grandma make some tomato soup and made lots of applesauce for us.  cody loved to be able to sit up at the counter and watch everything.

as promised, grandma read lots of stories.  cody was so attentive to one about farm animals.

i did ashlee's hair lots of the days we were there, so she helped out by doing my hair

and cody's hair.

ashlee was a big help with cody.  she loved helping him take baths and get his diaper changed and get dressed. she made sure he was always happy and smiling when he was playing on the floor.  she'll be a huge help when her new little sister come in the spring.

ashlee said she would take cody down the slide at the park and was so disappointed when she got sick at lunchtime one day and we had to skip the park.  luckily she felt better the next day.  we had tons of fun at the park swinging, riding the animals, and going down the slides.

we, of course, had to have a tea party (cody's first!)

where ashlee taught us all the 'proper' way to drink tea.

one morning, grandma treated us all to a spa day at the beauty school.  we got facials, pedicures, manicures, a scalp treatment, and hairstyle.  cody tagged along and we found the perfect brown to match his outfit.
(but dad wouldn't let us really paint cody's nails ;)

we also went to the temple, did some shopping, ate out for lunch, visited grandpa at work, welcomed grandma and grandpa varga over for church and dinner, went on walks, worked out at the gym, and generally kept ourselves busy.

cody was such a good sport, even if he was outnumbered almost all the time...

on friday, we left ashlee with grandpa bruce-ster (what she thinks his name is) and went to time out for women in phoenix.  we ran into all kinds of friends we haven't seen in a long time.  it was so fun to be there with my mom and sisters.  hopefully its a tradition we can repeat sometime in the future!
