we had our ward party last saturday.
it was pretty much the second best ward party ever (only following last year's party - a night in bethlehem).
instead of having dinner first, where everyone shows up 20 minutes late and no one wants to start eating on time since no one is there on time, so the food is cold by the time anyone can start eating, we started off the night with some activities.
ornament making
nativity dress-up
(cute sheep huh?)
cookie decorating
(i promise there is a cookie under this kid's sprinkled creation)
and, of course, a visit with santa claus
having all the activities first gave people time to arrive as they wanted and mix and mingle for a while. then we could start dinner right. on. time. not only did we start on time, we had prime rib. that's right. you wish you were in our ward. it was amazing.
cody thought it was all fun for a while, but got pretty tired pretty fast and ended up looking a bit glaze-eyed a lot of the night. poor kid!

That does sound like fun. Good idea having the activities first!
Katie, I must point out that you look a LOT like your mom in the cookie decorating picture :).
