we had a pretty athletic father's day weekend.
it started off with our ward's first annual (hopefully) walk/run.
they made it an official race with sign-in and numbers for each racer.
they set up a 1.5 mile course for us to follow and then had a big pancake breakfast afterward. we were really surprised how many people were there (especially at 8 on a saturday morning).
ryan wanted to run, so he went ahead with a lot of the young men. i generally hate running, so we walked (and actually ran for a little bit when it was super downhill and easy). cody and i met up with ryan at the finish line. cody got a little medal and we got a trophy as a family.
it was a really fun activity. hopefully it continues next year....even though we probably won't be around for it.
ryan's last softball game was later that afternoon so cody and i went over to watch. he was a great cheerleader.
he watched attentively and clapped every now and then.
i'm pretty sure they won...but its hard to keep track without a scoreboard.
the stake people in charge of softball did a big bbq during/after the game, so after we ate, i let cody run around a little bit. just like a boy, he went straight for the dirt and got a handful or two in his mouth. needless to say, he got a good bath as soon as we got home.
cody and i made a card for dad for father's day. he was such a good helper when he wasn't trying to eat the crayons. he sat so still while i traced his hands and then we put some paper in between his handprints that stretched out and said 'we love you t-h-i-s much.' it turned out so cute, so we think we'll continue the tradition and see how our kids handprints grow over the years.
we didn't manage to get any pictures on father's day. it was a nice relaxing day. our ward did a dessert bar for all the fathers during the last 10 minutes of church, so ryan and cody had a very sweet lunch (and shared some with me).
