in the meantime

well, we're coming down to the end of our family of three.  we're excited to welcome one more hopefully sooner than later :)  we're at 10 days and counting.  if he's not here by the 25th, then he'll for sure be here then.

meanwhile, we've been keeping busy with lots of sickness....ear infections, colds, toothaches, colds, fevers, colds, colds, and more colds....or at least that's what it felt like.  finally everyone is on the mend as far as i can tell.  hopefully i'm right and we can bring home a new baby to a healthy house.

we have been doing some fun things this month, too.

ryan had new year's day off, so we followed the advice of some friends and went to check out the floats from the rose parade.  after the parade is over, they are parked along a couple of roads in pasadena and people can walk by to check them out up close.  there were a ton of people, but it was fun to do.
it was fun to try and guess what materials were used on some floats.  poppy seeds, white beans, and oatmeal were some of the surprising ones we heard mentioned along our way.

this dinosaur was cody's favorite.  as we were leaving, it was 'walking' so it was even more fun to watch.

 a few of our favorites...

we didn't have a map of the floats until we were almost done, so we ended up going to the last float first and caught a picture.

the last float we saw then was the first one of the parade with the theme:
'oh, the places you'll go!'

aside from the parade, i spent about every free moment at home working on this 2000 piece puzzle that cody and ryan gave me for christmas.  we also got a 500 piece puzzle from my parents that ryan and i (mostly i) finished while we watched 'while you were sleeping' with time to spare.  its amazing how quadrupling the pieces exponentially increases the time it takes to finish.  it took me about 2 weeks to finish this buddy.  pretty sure that's the longest amount of time i've ever spent on a single puzzle.

ryan's urgent care rotation ended last week and he had friday off so we took what we think will be our last 'family-of-three' trip to disneyland.

cody and ryan danced in the street with phineas and ferb.

took the typical 'disneyland entrance' picture.

rode the holiday version of smallworld one more time where we saw merida from 'brave' just outside.

cody loves mickey, so we took him to toontown to meet him.  we walked through mickey's house and checked out some of the furniture.

we caught mickey out back in his studio where he was doing some 'filming.'  cody gave him a good fist bump, some hugs, and kisses

now we just need to get him to smile on command for pictures :)

cody doesn't really ask to ride on many things, but he didn't want to walk by the carousel without stopping.  he loves riding the horses.

as we were leaving we saw the horse drawn trolley waiting for riders.  cody and i hitched a ride and met 'lucky' who was nice enough to pose for a picture, even if we couldn't pet him (he was on the clock).

next disney trip will be a whole different ballgame, but we'll still have a great time i'm sure.

hopefully our next installment will be a wonderful announcement!

stay tuned...

You've been busy. Those parade floats would have been so fun to go and see. Good for you for still getting out and going through Disneyland at this point in the pregnancy. Weren't you exhausted?! And that picture of you in front of the 'Oh, the Place You'll Go!' sign... you don't even look pregnant!

That must have been so fun to look at the floats! That is my favorite parade, I think all the floats look amazing on TV, real life must be super amazing!
