cody has passed the 21-month mark now. he continues to be a pretty easy-going, happy kid. he learns so much every day and keeps us laughing on a regular basis.
he's starting to do a lot more singing on his own. we hear him singing in bed almost every night. he loves to sing 'row, row, row your boat' and 'i had a little turtle' - which sounds about like this...
turtle. tim. bathtub. swim. water. soap. bathtub. throat throat throat. bubbles.
all the most important parts i guess. he's a pro at finishing the last word of pretty much every line of any song he's heard at least once before and the end of almost every sentence in any book he's read at least once before.
his favorite song is 'i love to see the temple.' he asks us to sing 'temple' every night when we put him to bed, unless we say a different one first.
cody loves to snuggle, especially under a blanket. many mornings, cody and i read stories in bed while we wait for isaac to wake up. cody insists that we have the blankets pulled up to his chin before we start. when we put him to bed, he has to hold his monkey and one of his dogs and makes sure they are both tucked carefully under the blanket with him.
he fell and hit his eye on a little play table at one of our many appointments a couple weeks ago. quite a shiner.
cody loves trying on hats and shoes and putting stuff in his hair. one morning, cody asked me to put something in monkey's hair. i put a clip in it and cody said, 'dude, niiice.'
while in arizona, he brought some of grandma's shoes out of her closet and put them right next to the rocking chair where he would have the arms of the chair to help him balance and get them on.
one of cody's favorite stories at grandma berta's house was 'tiki tiki tembo' (usually just told by dad since its pretty wordy). grandma varga gave him a little puppy on isaac's blessing day. when we asked him what its name was, he said, 'tiki...tembo.' so far that name has stuck, but he also uses that name any time he's not sure what the right name is (i.e. 'what's cora-lynne's daddy's name?' 'tiki tembo').
he loves when we 'color' and always has to trace my hand, then his hand, then dad's hand, then everyone's hand again... and again... and again...
he is a great big brother. he is liking to hold zak-ik (he still calls isaac that) a little more often now, but still not for too long. sometimes he'll lay on the floor by isaac and hold his hand or talk to him.
any time someone is making something in the kitchen, cody asks 'taste?'
cody is getting more and more technologically savvy. this morning while i was texting a friend, he asked 'grandma talk?' i put the phone on speaker phone and when she answered, he put the phone up to his ear and said 'grandma skype?' without any prompting from me!
cody helped me move some heavy stuff in his room, so we showed dad our muscles.
we're trying to use up a lot of our food before we move and we have lots of jell-o. instead of just having some in bowls for dinner, we decided to teach cody about jell-o jigglers. he sang 'jiggle jiggle jiggle' (to the tune of the turtle song) for days.
we have a super nice garbage man who stops in front of our balcony and moves parts of his truck for cody to watch. any time cody hears truck sounds outside, he wants to get his stool and watch for the garbage man.

some days i put him to work while he's out there. he's a big helper, even if he gets a bit distracted sometimes.
i came down from taking a shower one morning to find cody covered in stickers. luckily they weren't on anything we couldn't pull them right off of.
the past few days, he's gotten quite good at counting. aside from often just saying 'two, one, two, one,' he can now point to pictures and count up to nine all by himself! i've counted up to twenty with him a few times and it mostly sounds like he just says 'uh-teen' over and over.
we bought cuties at the store last week and i kept finding cody in the kitchen peeling one for himself and then racing over to his 'snack stair' to eat it.
i couldn't resist snapping a picture of cody drinking the last of his milk after his cereal. he's a great eater. when i ask him what we should have for breakfast in the morning, he gives me a different answer every day (usually muffins, pancakes, cereal, or oatmeal) so we have some pretty good variety.

cody has also started to say the prayer with help. in the mornings, when i give him the prompt 'help us to have a good ____,' he fills in sleep. i guess we must ask for a good sleep pretty often.
we love our getting-bigger-every-day boy. he is so fun and entertaining!

Ha,Ha, that reminded me when the girls were little and loved to trace hands. Does Cody just make a straight line in between every finger? That's what they did.
Cute. It is like the commercial. Something like "why are cuties little? so they are easy to peel. why are the easy to peel? so kids can peel them. kids like cuties 'cause cuties are for kids."
P.S. I deleted my last comment because I said it wrong.
