ryan actually had the fourth off, so we took advantage of having him home. cody asked him first thing to take him down to the pond to go fishing. they somehow convinced me to come as well :)
we found a little fishing pole at a yard sale last year. its just perfect for cody.
isaac mostly loved to sit there and dump the corn (bait) out.
cody had the best luck that day and actually caught a fish!
this is pretty much his reaction. he did not want to touch it!
we attracted quite a few turtles...more than fish i'm afraid. cody loved to tell people that he caught a fish and a turtle and his dad caught a turtle. the turtles weren't super cooperative in getting unhooked...
after naptime, we headed down to david's house for their annual neighborhood bbq. it wasn't too hot, which was nice. they even had their canopy (from the reunion) that kept us from getting completely soaked when it downpoured - just like last year.
after the rain finally stopped, we got to go out for some fireworks.
the kids really loved the sparklers.
after it got dark, we did some of the bigger ones in the driveway. once we got all the kids down for bed, we stood in the driveway and watched the neighbors light their fireworks. there are little shows everwhere! we stayed up way too late playing games when we were done watching the fireworks, but its worth a late night since we don't have opportunities to play games too often!
