since cody turned three at the beginning of the summer, so he was old enough to do swim lessons this summer! he was definitely excited, but a little nervous i think.
he was so excited to wear his towel backpack that grandma berta made him for his birthday.
it took him a few days to get comfortable with the water, but by the end he was able to almost float by himself and loved getting his hair 'super wet' by going all the way under the water.
they teach safety lessons some days. one day they learned about life jackets and then practiced wearing them and jumping in/swimming around.
another day they learned about 'throw, don't go' when life saving. they got to practice saving each other and their teacher, joel.
it was so fun to watch these four for the three weeks of swimming lessons. the other two boys are twins and their mom sat next to us on the grass. it was nice to have an adult to talk to to help pass the time. we have plans to meet up at the park for the boys to play in the next few weeks - if its not too hot!
isaac is old enough to do the mommy and me class, but i figured he wouldn't remember anything he learned in a swim class since he's still so little and does really well in the water when we do go swimming. we saved our money and had fun playing in the grass while cody had his lessons. he loved packing his back-pack with things to do.
he got all muddy one day and insisted on cleaning off everything.
on the last day of lessons, we brought some free ice cream coupons for the boys. the twins were having a hard time getting in the water deeper than their mouths, so we thought we'd try a little bribe....didn't work for them. cody cashed in though. he was so excited to get his ice cream for getting his head all the way under the water - which he'd been doing for weeks anyway. as soon as we sat down with cody's cone, he said "does isaac want some?" so nice looking out for his brother :)
now we have a week off before the august session of swimming lessons start.
