babysitting

we've been busy doing a bit of babysitting this week.  my friend, kimmy, brought her two girls over one morning while she had an appointment.  usually kate, the littlest, cries pretty much the whole time i watch her - until she falls asleep.  it was a beautiful day, so we all went outside and as long as i kept kate's swing moving - no crying!  we spent probably close to an hour out playing.

once we went inside, i just set kate down with a few toys.  learning to sit up has been a major game changer in kate's life.  she was so happy to sit and play and let isaac 'feed her' from time to time with food from his kitchen.

next we headed down to houston to watch maddie, bailey, and lily.  david got a little extra time off work, so he and julie took off for a couple of nights and i stayed with the kids.  i was a little overwhelmed at the thought of five kids, but i couldn't believe how easy it ended up being!  these cousins just love each other and playing together!

we picked bailey up from school on thursday and friday and spent a good hour or so playing on all the playgrounds.  i think we could have stayed longer if we hadn't had to head home for potty breaks on both days!

poor lily just had to sit in the stroller.  she was a good sport about it though.

maddie got a treasure chest full of 'frozen' stuff, so that occupied a good chunk of time between paper dolls and coloring with crayons and glitter.

the biggest adjustment was having to feed that many kids.  i felt like we were eating david and julie out of house and home!!  we ended up ordering pizza for a movie night on friday and ate all of it, plus some leftover pizza from the fridge.  

i actually got to spend a good chunk of time just sitting and reading or resting (isaac was up for two hours for some reason on thursday night so i was exhausted) because they play so nicely together and keep each other entertained. 

how fun to live close to cousins!!
