sickness

we got hit extra hard this month with illnesses.  ryan's rotation was in the emergency room, so i suspect he brought a few things home with him.  it hit him first.  he even took a sick day (ryan never gets sick) before he saw white in the back of his throat and went to the doctor.  diagnosis - strep and flu.  luckily, the rest of us were heading down to david and julie's as he came home from the doctor.  he got a few days to just recover with no one around.  his e.r. schedule was pretty light, so he didn't even end up missing work?

it took about a week before it hit the rest of us.  isaac and i started coming down with the cough/sore throat about the same time.  of course, ryan worked long days and then the whole weekend that we were sick, so we were on our own.  i wish mom's got a sick day here and there!

the bean's (cachet used to watch isaac and cody while i worked) were kind enough to take cody to church with them.  they have the 'graduating' nursery kids visit primary and cody had volunteered to give the prayer, so he didn't want to miss it and isaac and i were too sick to go.  cody was fine until a few hours after church when he started getting the fever.  i can only think of a handful of times when cody has just fallen asleep somewhere, but he was wiped out.

the cough is what hit me the worst - especially at night.  ryan was nice enough to switch his schedule around and stay home on what ended up being my worst day (he had to switch to work christmas eve instead, but we survived that).  my ribs and diaphragm were so sore that any coughing about made me cry - and maybe did....a few times....  i spent the whole day on the couch with a pillow pressed up against my stomach!  

luckily, we all got over it without any other doctor visits or complications.  what a crummy time to be sick!
