i guess the varga reunion offically start on monday, but the whole crew was there by saturday night. sunday was pretty relaxed with nothing to scheduled going on aside from church. our boys were exhausted after the long drive and time change. isaac fell asleep in sacrament meeting for the first time ever!
bonnie was pretty fussy for a lot of the day on sunday, but we finally figured out that she must be cold up in the mountain air. i dressed her with some extra layers on monday and she was much happier...despite what the picture shows.
we loved having the gas fireplace to give a little warmth and a lot of ambiance. it was perfect.
(isaac is holding his pocket because its full of rocks - as it was at all times)
ryan burklund and i made the first of many runs to the store. while we were gone, grandma read the kids 'the book with no pictures.' i'm sad i missed it, but i heard it was quite a hit.
our morning activity was presented by the mamanakis family. we began the process of yarn baskets. we had to team up cuz its a bit harder than it looks to wrap yarn around a balloon.
after wrapping we dipped them in a gluey solution and let them dry. they were ultimately supposed to harden and form baskets, but despite trying several starches - they didn't quite harden in the end.
at some point in the morning, kellen fell from the ladder going up to the tree house and hurt his foot. he wasn't putting any weight on it for several hours, so aubrey and ryan ended up taking him to urgent care for an x-ray. luckily nothing was broken and he was up and walking again by the end of the week.
since burklund's were gone for the afternoon, they had us pull out their back-up activity of toothpicks and marshmallows. who knew something so simple could entertain so well for so long!
owen and hyrum put together quite a collection. owen kept saying "i love this!"
logan was so good at helping the littler kids
it was a little chilly for bonnie outside, but once we wrapped her up, she snuggled right down and went to sleep through the marshmallow building.
this was a frequent occurance all week. finding kids with oatmeal creme pies. cody came and asked for "two cookies with white frosting in the middle" one day. ryan had no idea what he meant, but i figured out what he wanted right away.
burklund brought these fun straps that can act as a balance beam. the boys loved bouncing on it.
