ringing in the new year

we rang in the new year in a couple of different places this year.  farrah and mike decided to bless their littlest baby (juliana) over new years weekend, so ryan went out to participate.  we thought it would be fun for cody to go with him, so they got to have a fun weekend together with the varga family in tucson.  cody was so excited to go with his dad and asked all day long when it was going to be time to leave.  they had to book a flight after work hours, so they didn't leave the house until after dinner.  we were babysitting kate and olivia when they left and olivia may or may not have cried when cody left....

ryan sent me this picture from the plane showing me their abundance of leg room and that's the last of their weekend documentation from ryan.  we facetimed a couple of times, but ryan was pretty much sick the whole time.  he slept and sat around a bunch and cody had a great time playing with the mamanakis kids.

isaac was pretty broken hearted to be left at home.  he took great care of cody's 'injun turtle' while they were gone.  i found this when i went to get isaac saturday morning.

annie and dad had already gone back to arizona after visiting for christmas and sam's birth, but mom was still around helping out at david and julie's.  she brought the girls up for the weekend.  i got a kick out of how differently a dad packs vs. a mom from a few weeks ago when i picked the girls up from david.  it was definitely minimal supplies when david packed and everything they'd need when julie/grandma packed.  

as usual when they come, we had a hair doing party.  lily has become so patient and loves to have her hair done now.

grandma and maddie brought some candies they'd gotten in the bulk candy section at the store for a tea party.  it was so exciting.  everyone got fancy for the tea party.  even bonnie wore her beautiful dress-up from great-grandma.

it was nice to have mom and the girls visit and interesting to have a couple of days with just two kids.  it seems so easy to have two after three all the time!  cody and ryan got home late sunday night.  isaac and cody were so happy to see each other when they woke up in the morning!

ryan and cody stayed at sean and nicole's house when they flew in and nicole sent me this cute picture of cody feeding atlas.  i forget how much kids love feeding babies.

it would have been fun to go see everyone in arizona, but after the over-abundance of travelling we did for interviewing in the fall, i was ever-so-ready to just stay home.  we'll see everyone this spring sometime and lots when we move to show low/pinetop in the summer!
