may odds and ends

this really is a long list of odds 'n' ends for this month.  our lives have been a bit scattered and crazy with getting ready to move!  its amazing how fast its come.  we've tried to do lots of packing early to put away stuff we won't need.  hopefully that means we won't miss out on the fun stuff over the next few weeks cuz we won't have to be home packing!

i told the boys they could ride "mr. pig" (you know..."they call me mr. pig") if they were best helpers and got their buckles on super fast for all the errands we had to run.  they were awesome and loved riding it.

i helped cody make his birthday list this year by just spelling the things he listed off to me.  50 cool points if you can guess what it says before scrolling down ;)

excavator, garbage truck, rocking horse, baseball, space center, space game, puzzle

bonnie loves shoes.  isaac was a little upset bonnie was taking his shoes, but when i told him she just wanted to play dress-up, he was right over helping her out.

they love playing dress-ups together.  i put on every dress-up bonnie handed me, so she ended up with isaac's shoes, a tutu, the satchel, a tunic, and then a variety of hats.  i'm amazed, too, how long she'll keep dress-ups on.

meanwhile, cody told me he wanted to vacuum the house.  yes.  yes, you may always vacuum the house buddy.

we were supposed to go swimming at the haymond's one afternoon.  kimmie texted me that it was pouring at their house, so we improvised.  so much fun can be found in such a tiny pool

and with a little pot of dirt and weeds.

we walked down to the ford's for some reason, and isaac was "taking pictures" with a bike light.  i told him, "let's take pictures of each other taking pictures"

bonnie still loves to swing, but i think these days are numbered.  she's starting to want to be down to explore.

isaac went on and on one day about "thamangos."  i was cutting up mangoes, so i thought he must be talking about them.  no, he was very clear that he was talking about the birds that are pink and stand on one foot.  you know "thamangos!"  i found this flamingo cookie cutter and thought it would be the perfect "thamango" memento.

bonnie has figured out how to climb up onto the stool.  she'll be a regular best helper in no time!

and she's also learned how to climb into the rocking chair by herself.  she likes to sit there now when we read scriptures at night.

with all the packing i've been doing, i had to give the kids a few boxes that were "theirs" so they'd leave the other boxes alone.  these boxes are like little drawers.  the boys had many many days of fun with them.  one afternoon i found bonnie sitting in one with a pile of food in front of her.  her very own picnic i suppose.

here's an update on how the leg is looking.  better all the time, but still pretty awful.

this is a common occurrence lately - followed by the whole thing falling down on top of her.  that microwave is just too darn interesting!

we've had just a couple of cooler mornings, so i try to take advantage of them to pack things in the garage.  all three kids made their way onto bikes this morning.  we just got the training wheels for cody's bike so a whole new world of riding has opened up.

it has been cool in the mornings, but the afternoons have been hot and humid.  it does crazy things to this one's hair.  it will stand up any way you put it.

i couldn't keep bonnie out of the bus the last time we went to the library.  she felt so big standing up there and loved looking out the window.

we love "where's walrus?" and came across a new book "where's walrus and penguin?"  we had to send a picture to grandma.

now we only have about 10 days left in texas!!  hopefully we can pack them with so much fun and friends!!
