getting ready for christmas

ryan had a few days and half days off around christmas, so we took advantage and got some fun things done.  we heard santa was visiting bass pro shop, so we went by to see him.  they had lot of fun things set up to look at....

like remote control trucks

a wild animals carousel

and a fun train set

we weren't sure how cody would like sitting alone with santa, but he thought it was great.  a few days later we even got him to start saying 'ho ho' when we asked him what santa says.
this is just a picture of the picture they gave us....i'll scan it in eventually

we went to a neighborhood nearby one night to look at their fantastic lights.  i didn't last too terribly long walking around, but it was fun to see all the lights again this year.  here's cody's favorite....at least based on his oooo's and ahh's

cody was very helpful getting some last minute things done on christmas eve, like helping with some cleaning (he does a great job on the mirrors that he smudges up on a regular basis)

and taking some final gifts down to put under the tree.

for the second year in a row, we had our medical-school classmates, the cuff's, over for christmas eve dinner - traditional rice tafel.  asuka even brought some fun songs to play with instruments.

and, of course, before bed we opened our christmas eve jammies.  i even managed to surprise ryan with some new books hidden inside.

and just a funny, pre-christmas cody story.  cody helped ryan cook some burgers for dinner one night.  we had the buns sitting outside to get warmed on the grill before dinner....and someone snuck a few bites....

don't leave any bread out where this kid can reach.  this is not a one-time occurrence at our house!  cody loves snitching bites of bread anywhere he can get it.
