settling in

we have been doing lots of hard work around here - one of cody's favorite things to do (he sometimes wakes up from his nap and asks if we're going to do hard work).  we're busy unpacking and getting settled in.  some tidbits, in no particular order:

i got all of the boys' books unpacked and couldn't believe how many we have.  this isn't even all of them!  good thing cody loves to read so much.

cody takes apart his airplane multiple times a day.  luckily he can pretty much take it apart and put it together all by himself.  i think he asks for help just to have the company.  every once in a while ryan will tighten all the screws so it has to stay put together for a while.

even isaac likes the airplane...or pretty much anything he can reach.  he's getting a bit more mobile so we have to watch out for smaller toys now.

cody found a pile of cook books one day and was 'reading' them to isaac.

cody does a pretty good job of getting underfoot in any project you're working on.  he is actually a really big help when there is something that isn't too hard for a two-year-old.  ryan and i constantly looked for things cody could 'help' one of us with so the other could get something done.

we had to put getting a lawn mower pretty high on our list of purchases.  can you see the jungle in comparison?  ryan couldn't even fit all of the grass in our empty trash can.  the lawn is pretty weedy, but at least its tame now.

we planned on getting cody a 'big boy bed' when we moved here.  come to find out, david and julie (mostly julie) were looking to get rid of david's old bed (that we had as kids in wyoming) since they had just gotten bunk beds for their girls to share.  they brought the bed, box springs, and the lightning mcqueen guard rail up a few days ago.  we picked up a mattress at sams and were in business.  cody thought it was pretty cool (especially with mcqueen).  he started sleeping in it that night and hasn't turned back.  he even stays in bed in the morning and after naps until ryan or i go to get him up.  we'll see how long that lasts!

we decided we wanted to have a little garden space here, so ryan worked hard over several days/weekends to get a couple of garden boxes put in.  we'll hopefully plant in august sometime (the next supposed growing season).

and of course, if dad's doing hard work then cody's got to be doing hard work, too.  all he needed was a shovel and he was out there moving dirt....mostly to the right places...right along with dad.

getting our licenses and cars registered was a bit of a process (inspections, then car title/registration, then driver's license - not the other way around as we tried at first).  we tried to get it all taken care of before ryan started work, but couldn't get everything done in time.  luckily i had cody to come along and carry the license plates for me.

the house was pretty clean when we moved in so we didn't have to do too much cleaning when we first got in.  cody does love to help keep things clean though.  he likes to get his vacuum out when i vacuum and loves to 'sweet.'

we only have a few boxes here and there left to get unpacked.  hopefully that will happen in the next week or so!
