david and julie invited us over for their 4th of july block party. just a few people from their street came over, but it was a lot of fun. not long after everyone finished eating it started to rain, and then pour, and then flood. 
we stayed out for a while until the lightning and thunder started (we get some pretty amazing thunder storms down here). everyone got soaked. luckily it stopped raining and cleared up in time to do sparklers and fireworks before it got too late for the kids.
it was a fun and new experience to celebrate in texas where you can light all kinds of fireworks just in your driveway. we had a great time!
