having your birthday just a few weeks after you move to a new place and your husband starts residency can be a bit of a lonely affair - when you only know a couple of people. cody, isaac, and i tried to make it a bit more fun and took a trip down to the woodlands. we stopped at the mall to get my semi-annual wedding ring inspection and cleaning. cody loved doing some window shopping at the pet store.
after the mall we headed to baskin robbins to get my free birthday ice cream. cody thought it was all for him, but was nice enough to share :)
isaac may not have had any ice cream, but he managed his own feast of toes.
i felt so spoiled with ryan making me dinner and lots of great presents. ryan got me a new watch (my fossil watch of 12 years has been slowly dying....just outside of their 11 year warranty!), i got a new kindle case, a fold-up basket, a michael buble cd (early for our long drive to texas), a house plant, and lots of pampered chef stuff. my kitchen is becoming more complete one birthday/christmas at a time.
i pulled the gold ribbon off one of the first presents and put it on cody's head. i know most kids would pull it right off, but he insisted on wearing it the rest of the day and probably would have worn it the next day too if i hadn't throw it away.
i don't normally do much for my birthday, but since we actually have some family close by, we had a bbq on sunday. david and marianne brought their families up. we also had cherish and anthony (from our ward) and kirby's family (one of the residents). it was definitely more fun to share the celebration with some friends and family and have some people to share 'the cake' with.
