grandma bishop came out to spend some time helping out with lily jane's arrival. cody, isaac, and i headed down to houston on friday to visit. we spent the morning at david and julie's community pool. they have an awesome little kids pool that goes from a half foot to one and a half feet deep in big steps. its perfect for little kids like bailey, maddie, and cody to play around without having to be held all the time.
isaac did not like the water much when he tried it out at first. he just had to be held onto tight with just his feet in and then after a while we could sit him down with just a hand close by in case he tipped over. once he figured out it wasn't too terribly cold and he could splash we could hardly get him out of the water.
the kids pool was in the shade all morning, so the kids liked to lounge in the sun from time to time.
i headed over to the temple after getting the boys down for naps. when i came back and everyone had gotten up (maddie and cody never fell asleep in the first place), grandma had a treasure hunt for them. she had drawn pictures of where the next clue would be hidden and had them running all over the house. they loved it so much that maddie and grandma set it up again (a little harder) for david.
when the lack of naps was starting to show a little later on, grandma found a new game of guessing what she pulled out of her bag with a blindfold on. they were all good at it....although i suspect they peeked a bit here and there.
it was a nice, relaxing day and so fun to see lily again.
we had david's family (minus julie, who was recovering from the flu, and lily) bring grandma up on sunday and have dinner with us. i decided i would finally try out the recipes for sri lankan food that hafsa (our california neighbor) taught me. it turned out pretty tasty!
grandma stayed with us until monday night. we had a great time going shopping, playing at the library, having a tea party, and reading books.
we always have so much fun with grandma here and wish she could stay longer!
