outings with friends

Only one of the other residents in Ryan's year is married with children and it just so happens that their two younger children are within a couple of months of our kids' ages and Tara and i get along great.  The only downside is that they live in the opposite direction of the hospital making them almost 30 minutes away. We both wish we lived closer so we could hang out more. As it is, we just try to get together for fun stuff every once in a while.

i have only found a couple of free splash pads in our area.  i checked out one with marianne a few weeks ago and then tried this one out with tara and her kids at the end of july.  it was so much more fun than the first one we tried.  the kids had a great time playing in the water and playing 'i spy' looking for all the fun things on the ground

it was a pretty warm day and isaac wore himself right out.  he fell asleep in my arms and then i laid him in the stroller where he stayed asleep for another 20 minutes or so.  that never happens!!

this week, tara invited me down for her ward's playgroup at a bounce house place.  cody was a bit hesitant to get in any of the bounce houses, but he warmed up pretty quick.

he made his way up the ladder of this slide all by himself (which is saying something cuz i thought it was hard to get up) and then was terrified to go down.  this nice little girl took her little sister and cody down the slide on her lap several times.
(its tough to get non-blurry pictures when people are bouncing and moving around so much)

he did finally try it out on his own and found that he loved going down on his belly.  after that i could hardly get him off the slide to leave.

isaac and estelle were such good sports hanging out in their strollers while we all played.

cody, annika, and owen thought this little 'room' was so fun to go in and out of.  luckily they didn't know it just required a couple of dollars to create tornado-like winds.  i don't think they would have thought it was quite so fun.

after we finished up at the bounce place, we headed to the woodlands mall to meet marianne where we thought we'd find a free carousel ride.  turns out it isn't really free, but the really nice old man running it gave us all free passes for the mix-up.  we took turns riding with the bigger kids.

we stopped by forever 21 on our way out and tried on some cute accessories

i got tired of holding isaac while we were waiting for a potty break, so cody took over.  what a nice brother huh?
