halloween was a bit last minute this year. we tried for several weeks before halloween to figure out what cody wanted to dress up as. any time we asked him, he'd just say 'a hat.' hmmm..... so we thought maybe we'd do a top hat upside down and put rabbit ears on his head - like a magician's hat. upon further inquiry.... 'a cowboy hat.' no go on the magician.
we tried finding fun matching costume ideas for the two boys, like having cody be calvin and isaac be hobbes. resounding 'no' from cody.
finally we narrowed it down. cody wanted to be mickey or a cowboy. i had found a little dress that i could cut into a sorcerer mickey robe at goodwill, so last minute i threw together the mickey costume for our neighborhood costume parade thinking we could find some cowboy stuff for halloween day.
once i showed him the costume and how it matched his little mickey, he was sold and hardly wanted to take it off!!
as it was pretty last minute, we went ahead and re-used cody's surgeon costume for isaac
cody was so excited to go to a parade. all through the walk/parade around the neighborhood he kept asking 'go to a parade?'
at the end we enjoyed some halloween snacks.
on halloween morning, cody, isaac, and i went to the library to get their pictures taken for the costume contest. it was raining really hard all morning, so it was a bit of an ordeal trying to not get too wet.
isaac took first place for the 0-3 age range and got a certificate and book!
once dad got home, we commenced the pumpkin carving.
dad and cody did one 'jack-o-happy'
while mom and isaac worked on the other
our 'jacks'
cody had a great time trick-or-treating. i'm pretty sure this is the only piece of candy he ever ate from his bucketful.
and because we forgot to take a picture before trick-or-treating, we tried after....

Cody's costume looks so good! I wish I sewed better to be able to do awesome stuff like that.
