thanksgiving in houston

our first thanksgiving as a married couple was celebrated with the whole bishop family in houston in 2007.  finally, six years later, we made it back to celebrate in houston again with just david's family this time.

ryan had thursday and friday off and traded his long call shift on wednesday so that we could go down wednesday night and stay a couple of nights at david and julie's house.  that left thursday morning free for turkey bowl football for the boys.  ryan and david had a great time and were very sore.

the kids, as always, had a great time playing while we were there.

we were in charge of mashed potatoes and rolls.  i decided to try something fun this year.

maddie made ate the nut cups.

we had a fried turkey this year, so cooking time was quick and easy.

it was so much fun to go stay a couple of nights and get to play games into the night.  ryan and i even got to go on a date to see 'catching fire' while the boys stayed with david and julie.  ryan worked the rest of the weekend, so we're glad we got a few days off to spend all together!
