ryan and his co-chief, bart, had a chief resident conference in fort worth this weekend. we may or may not have basically invited ourselves... it was just too good of an opportunity to pass up to have a hotel room already paid for and a chance to hang out with marianne and her girls! we drove up thursday night and dropped mom off at a hotel where dad was waiting (he drove over by himself). they spent friday going to the temple and seeing cinderella for their anniversary.
friday morning we met up with marianne at a big park. the boys had so much on the playgrounds. cody made friends with a couple of other kids. the oldest boy was 'captain' and they had all kinds of 'missions' that they went on all over the different play structures. i love watching cody learn fun ways to play and imagine from other kids.
cody and isaac each climbed up this huge rock toy. i about had a heart attach watching isaac climb back down and almost fall several times, but 'i can do it!' makes it hard to help.
isaac also climbed over this stegosaurus over and over. i just have to let him do lots of stuff i'm not sure he could do and i'm always surprised.
once marianne go there with her girls, we played for a little longer. there was a little train depot near the park that we walked down to, but it was closed. we were worried that we had read the train schedule wrong, but we saw it drive past not much later as we were picnicing. come to find out, we just had to drive over to the other depot. it was such a fun little train ride and lasted a long time!
we tried to get a few pictures by the engine after our ride.
its always tricky to get all the kids in the picture and looking at the same time :)
next we headed over to the fort worth science museum. this awesome dinosaur slide was in the gift shop. it was so fun looking.
cody got pretty good at spinning tops
and we learned how many kids and fit into a dinosaur footprint
they have some really fun water toys in a little outdoor area. this one played different instruments depending on where you hit it with the stream of water.
this water table was fun, but a recipe for absolutely soaked kids. i finally had to tell isaac he could only play at the water tables in the sun because his pants and shirt were dripping wet on the front.
bonnie spent most of the day in the sling or stroller. she was happy and easy-going as always.
there were some fun costumes in the kids area. isaac loved the stop sign.
cody spent most of his time at the train tables. he loves building trains.
i loved the little hospital area. they had little baby dolls and that the kids could dress and weigh, an area with xrays you could look at, and an ambulance to drive.
isaac was in heaven with all the little babies.
he didn't waste any time getting this baby undressed and in the sink for a bath (just like we do for bonnie). he was so careful. i had to work pretty hard to convince him to get his baby out of the sink so another little girl could have a turn.
we hit the dinosaur excavation area on our way out. cody and capri wanted to actually get the bone out of the ground.
after we got our shoes on to leave, i told isaac to brush the sand off his bottom, so he grabbed a brush...and brushed off his bottom. way to take it literally kiddo :)
we hurried upstairs to check out what they had and found a fun horse riding activity. you had to rein your horse in to corral the cows on the screen. i helped isaac and we still didn't hardly get any.
there was still plenty we could have done, but we had to go pick up ryan and bart (just up the street). isaac and cody were both exhausted and fell asleep in the three minutes back to the hotel. cody opted for swimming with ryan. bonnie had a huge blow-out in the car that i had to clean her up and isaac played in the bath. hanging out in the hotel while everyone fell asleep wasn't nearly as bad as i thought it might be since we were all exhausted after a long day!
