isaac turned a big four years old! he started the morning off with a facetime call in the birthday chair. we let him pick out his own balloon at safeway - which he loved. that may become a new birthday tradition.
he picked breakfast burritos for his birthday breakfast (with juice to drink).
notice our ragtag bunch of chairs around our scraggly table. hopefully the new table we ordered come very very soon!
he opened presents after breakfast before ryan had to leave for work. he got a cars watch, some snow shovels, a set of magnetics, and some books.
i had thought about taking the kids to the petrified forest since there was no school, but they were having way too much fun with the magnetics and playing so awesomely together. cody thinks there is no school on all family birthdays!
while the boys played, bonnie and i worked on the cake.
i actually had to scrap the first batch because they sunk so bad. i forget that we're at such a high altitude now! i wrote in several adjustments on the recipe and the second batch turned out much better.
i love our birthday boy!
since even a half recipe of the cake makes so much, we thought we'd have the adams over to share with us. isaac was so happy to have friends to play after dinner!
we love stopping by dad's office for visits, but isaac's appointment was the first time we were there as a patient. bonnie, of course, had to do her height check as always. she's about as tall as the grizzly bear and isaac's about as tall as an alligator.
entertaining ourselves in the exam room.
the office staff is so nice and kept finding things for bonnie to play with while she waited. popular girl, that one.
isaac isn't quite as big and tall as cody was, but he's definitely up there. he came in at:
weight: 37 lbs (50th percentile)
height: 43 in (99th percentile)
they have you fill out a questionnaire at the office to make sure kids are meeting their milestones. one question was if he could count to 15. on the way to the office he counted to 115, with just a couple of helps..... he's a smart cookie and learning new things so fast. preschool has been so fun for him and helped him learn lots - not to mention he loves playing with his friends and doing fun projects.
he told me before bed tonight before bed that being four feels very different than three. hopefully its a great feeling!
