we've gotten a couple of decent snow storms up here so far this winter. we don't get a whole lot at our house, but there is some good snow up on the mountain. sean and nicole took a couple of days to come up and play with us. ryan took one day off to go snowboarding with sean (no pictures of course...). they came home earlier than expected by way of the clinic so ryan could get an x-ray for his supposed broken ankle. luckily it was fine and just took a couple of days of limping.
nicole and i got to leave the boys with the kids for a while to get our turn to go for pedicures and lunch. always a fun break!
we took advantage of the snow one more time for a morning of sledding. we bundled up the best we could (we don't have too much by way of snow clothes yet) and found the perfect little slope.
walking through snow is a bit tough for such little legs, so these two spent most of the time sitting. probably making for some cold bums!
at the top of our sledding hill, ryan taught bonnie about eating snow.
and that's pretty much all she did for the rest of the time we were there.
cody probably did the most runs down the hill once he figured out how to get himself and the sled back to the top. that's hard work!!
isaac didn't love the sledding part - which is a bit higher risk, i suppose, when you already have a broken arm. but he made lots of bent-armed snow angels. finding a glove to fit over a cast is tough work!
the snow was just wet enough to build a snowman and with these boys its clearly go big or go home. the three of us could hardly even get the middle part onto the bottom!
he turned out pretty good looking though - pine needle beard and all.
bonnie has been singing 'once there was a snowman' non-stop ever since!
we snapped one last shot from the bottom of the hill...
and then one from the road when we realized that you could see him from the road!
we spent the afternoon cozy in the house playing things like 'boat.'
we tried hard to get a picture of bonnie and atlas side by side (to see the difference from when they were babies and bonnie looked like a giant!), but didn't have much luck - even getting cody to help.
we're so glad they could make it up and give us a good excuse to get out and play!
