since we're not planning on staying in our apartment for more than another year or so, ryan and i haven't wanted to invest a lot of money in baby gates. instead, we've gotten a little creative at our place with containing cody in various areas of the house.
ryan's osteopathic table fits just perfectly across the opening of the living room.
and our suitcase fits just right (and is heavy enough) to keep cody in his room. he's happier if the door is open so he can come check in every once in a while.
as cody has gotten more mobile and curious, we let him roam a little further than the living room. the osteopathic table also makes a great blockade for the stairs.
for a while we could just close the bathroom door and he'd wander downstairs, but once he started getting into the trash in the kitchen and accidentally pulled open the oven (it wasn't on) and proceeded to climb inside...we decided a gate was in order. so now we have one gate that cody loves to stand by when we're in the kitchen.
just before taking this picture, a was doing a couple of videos. i got cody to stand up at the gate, say 'mama,' and then wave. so perfect! when i hit the button to stop recording, it started recording....

Mom and me are laughing that he climbed into the oven. Good thing it was off! Cody is one busy boy :)
