we've made it clear to 9 months already. we even happened to have cody's 9 month appointment on his 9 month birthday. the wait in the office was getting long and we got a little bored.
cody loved when we turned the itouch around so he could see himself on the screen as we took a couple of pictures.
and of course, he thought the paper was about as fun as could be.

since it was on his 9 month birthday, we have stats about as official as they can be.
height - 30 3/4 in. (off the charts even further than at 6 months)
weight - 21 lbs, 5 oz (75th percentile)
head - 19 in. (95th percentile)
he just keeps getting taller and taller! every once in a while we look at him across the room and can't believe how tall he has gotten.
he is still such a happy little boy and we love to watch him grow and learn and change. some things he loves right now...
he has a set of measuring cups and spoons in his toy basket. he loves to stick a spoon in his mouth and then crawl around to play with other stuff. sometimes the spoon part pools with drool and it just runs off the end.
unless there is something in his mouth or he's laughing, he pretty much always has his tongue out. pretty much everyone who meets him comments on it at some point. we just tell them he's in a perpetual state of deep concentration.
one morning i was trying to keep cody out of mischief while i was getting ready. i gave him this necklace to play with and couldn't get him to put it down. i tried to get him to crawl over to me. he'd move a foot or so and then realize he would have to leave the necklace, then sit back up and play with it again.
he still loves books. not a day passes when ryan doesn't come home to a pile of books all over the floor of the living room. i like to keep one book in the car for when we're running errands. i can always hear him flipping the pages back and forth.
often in the mornings i'll read for a little while after breakfast while cody plays. he likes to come over and snuggle with me, so we cuddle on the couch and read a few books together.
sometimes dad's even home long enough in the morning to be able to read a couple of stories too.

a couple of months ago we crossed paths with another family during a sunday walk. we discovered they live just a few doors away from us and have a little girl who is just 2 days older than cody. they've had several play dates and are so fun to watch crawl all over each other. the first time they played together, coralynne didn't know how to crawl, but cody showed her how it was done and she was crawling just a couple of days later.
when he's tired, cody gets really slap-happy. some of his very first laughs were slap-happy laughs where all we had to do was look his direction and he would crack up. the other night i was playing peek-a-boo from behind my book and took a little video of how hard he was laughing. every time i show it to him, he just laughs and laughs.

Is it The Forgotten Garden? Or have you just started that one?
He is so adorable- prettiest baby eyes ever!
Wow- that Dr's office has really boring walls. They need something FUN on there! I love that Cody has his hands in his sweatshirt pockets while sitting in the apple seat.
Maybe you are reading the Hunger Games.
