the majority of our four week trip to arizona was spent in sierra vista with ryan's parents. cody loved having so much space to crawl around and was good about not getting into things that he shouldn't (most of the time). he loved playing with this shape toy and even got to where he could put the circle in all by himself.
we had lots of fun swimming in grandpa and grandma's 'little pool' (the spa) that was just cody's size and a lot warmer than the big pool.
cody loved swimming around and splashing.
sometimes when we'd go play outside, he would shake the gate to the pool wanting to go in and swim.
aunt aubrey and her boys came down for a visit one saturday. she and owen went swimming with ryan, but cody and i just watched since we'd swam earlier in the day.
that same day, ryan's grandma and grandpa preston came for a quick visit and lunch. cody got to meet them at thanksgiving for the first time and it was fun to see them again.
on sundays, sometimes cody liked to read the paper - just like dad.
ryan borrowed my mom's juicer and he and his dad did a week of a 'juice fast.' ryan spent a good hour and a half juicing fruits and veggies every other day and that's all they would drink. it smelled, looked, and sounded gross to me.
ryan's mom and i did pretty well while they starved and stocked up on blue bell mint chocolate chip ice cream.
they ended their juice fast for sunday dinner. we had quite a feast of muffins, hash browns, and tacos (the things ryan's dad had been craving most).
i tested a pattern for some kid's pants, so cody and i did a little photo shoot. the only place i could get him to stand up was by the chickens. he loved going out to see them.
you can see the huge trail of drool dripping off cody's chin here. he was (and still is) working on his top left tooth so he was super drooly the whole trip.
cody really loves to point at things and then whisper. its anyone's guess what he sees or what he's saying, but it sounds very important.
cody's knees got pretty sore from crawling around outside a lot. he started to do his bear walk by the end of most days.
grandma varga let cody help plant some flowers in their front entryway.
it was sure hard to focus on flowers and dirt when there was a big fountain of water to splash in though.
this rotation was the last of ryan's third year of medical school and the first time we could stop and visit him at work. ryan said that the people he worked with wanted to meet me (code for: they all want to see how cute cody is in person), so we stopped by for a short visit. we had to wait until he finished with a couple of patients, but one of the nurses found cody the best toy ever - a cherry flavored tongue depressor. i even have some spares stashed in the diaper bag now.
here's dr. varga, medical student, with his nearly one-year-old boy.
(pointing and whispering again. he probably wanted the little blue card i was holding that ryan had given him to play with)
we had a big family party at farrah and mike's house last friday to celebrate farrah and nicole's birthdays. ryan and i made 'the cake' and everyone loved it (of course). it was a little crazy with all of the little boys wanting to help blow out candles.
we spent our last night in arizona at sean and nicole's house and played games until way too late into the night. it was so fun to spend all that time in arizona and have time to see so much of our family. we finally headed home on saturday and it feels so good to be sleeping in our own beds again!
we even made it to our own ward for my very first official mother's day.
