tucson days

after we left thatcher, cody and i dropped ryan off in benson (where his parents picked him up) and headed up to tucson to visit some aunts, uncles, and cousins.

we stayed at aunt nicole and uncle sean's house.  they have a basket full of balls that they originally got for owen to play with when he came over, but they were a big hit with cody, too.

we spent our days at aunt aubrey's house with her and the boys (owen, kellen, and kai).  owen loves to play outside, so we spent some time in the shade once the sun had moved behind the house a little.

there's a big bucket with some water in it outside, so the boys spent lots of time splashing and playing in it.

one of owen's favorite games is to make 'hands' and 'feet.'  he'll splash a cup-full of water on the cement and then make hand prints and foot prints all around it.

the water made the cement a bit slippery, so cody made some belly prints, too.  he had to nap in his diaper that day cuz his clothes were soaked.

 the spectators: aubrey with kai

and a sleepy kellen.

at home, we make all of cody's baby food, but on the road it's sometimes easier to just use the store-bought stuff.  owen was dying to have some of cody's food.  it made a great bargaining tool at dinnertime.  'if you eat all of this, you can have some of cody's food.'

at breakfast, he was beside himself wanting to try cody's breakfast.  i said, 'if you put your poops in the potty, you can have some of cody's food.'  without even hesitating he said 'ok' and ran down to the bathroom.  he didn't poop, but he did get some pees in the potty, so he got a treat.

later that day, we went over to nicole's house and i let owen choose one baby food flavor for a potty treat.  the next morning, he put his poops in the potty and got to eat his baby food peaches.  who knew baby food could be so alluring?

nicole had a couple of days off of work, so she got to hang out with us too.  our last morning in tucson, we took another trip to the zoo.  cody was much more interested than last time we went in november.  as long as the animals moved (like the monkeys that were going crazy), he loved to sit up and watch them.

there are peacocks and peahens roaming all over the place at the zoo.  owen chased down a couple and almost caught one!  cody just gave them the stare-down from a safe distance.

giraffes are by far my favorite zoo animal, so i decided cody and i would feed the giraffes this time.  when i handed each carrot to cody, he thought they were for him and tried to eat them.  he seemed a little shocked when the giraffe wrapped his tongue around it and ate it up.

here's our friend, denver (with eleanor in the background) enjoying a carrot.

one of owen's favorite parts of the zoo....feeding the ducks with his momma, aubrey.

and for proof we were there....

here's me with aunt nicole

and the twins, who slept the whole time

now we're back in sierra vista for a little bit longer with many adventures to share a bit later on.
