i somehow convinced julie that she and david should bring their kids out to go to disneyland before we moved away from california. we had no idea when they planned their trip that we'd be coming out to do house hunting a couple weeks before and moving out to their area a few weeks after. we definitely will be seeing lots and lots of them we hope!
david doesn't have a ton of time off of work, so their trip to california and arizona was going to involve a lot of driving and short visits. one day talking to my mom, the idea just came to me that they could fly out to l.a. and drive our car back to houston. it would save them lots of driving time and save us having to figure out how to tow a car to texas. we ended up finding some cheap flights that came in on a friday night.
since it was a late flight, i went to disneyland with kelby (just the two of us with no kids) to see fantasmic one last time. she flew in at six and we left just after seven. we made it in time to squeeze in by some canadians who'd never seen fantasmic before. it was as magical as the first time i saw it. as soon as the show was over, we followed the advice of a cast member. i grabbed kelby's hand and we ran through the crowd to a great fireworks spot laughing like little kids. we did a quick ride on splash mountain and caught a bit of the second showing of fantasmic before i left to pick up david and julie. i wish we could have more times at disneyland together, kelby!!
we had saturday and sunday to relax and hang out with david and julie and then went to the parks on monday and tuesday. monday was california adventure. bailey and maddie love cars, so we knew cars land would be a bit hit. we caught mater almost first thing.
bailey and maddie were about heart-broken that they couldn't meet lightning mcqueen (he left before we made it to the front of the line). bailey just wanted to touch him, so we found a nice cast member who let her sneak up for a quick touch and it about made her day.
we split up lots in cars land since there were so many different restrictions for rides with sizes and pregnancy, but there was something for everyone to ride.
julie was brave enough to take all of the kids (minus isaac) for a while so ryan, david, and i could ride tower of terror.
we went to talk to crush and found a few friends on the way.
we headed over to the other side of the park for a snack and watched goofy conduct a water concert.
then we stopped by toy story mania
and king triton's carousel.
we pushed through the break-down-because-we're-so-worn-out period of the afternoon so we could see the parade only to have it cancelled for rain. we decided to just stay for dinner (to miss traffic) and then head home instead.
