today the firemen came to visit story time. cody loves fire trucks, so i thought it would be something he would love to go to.
not so.
the minute we walked in and he saw the firemen standing in their uniforms (their normal blue shirt, black pants uniforms...not their fire gear), he started crying and crying. we had some friends who sat by isaac's stroller and i took cody to the back of the room where he held onto me like this...
we talked about fire fighter books we like and how we like to see their trucks and everything fire fighter related that i could think of. i had cody help me take some pictures (hence the blurriness of his shaking hands), but he was simply terrified of them.
one of the firemen and one of the librarians got dressed up in the full gear and after all the other kids had shaken this guy's hand, cody decided he wanted to go give him a high-five. i was so proud of him for conquering his fear.
then we went outside to check out the fire truck. from that point, cody was pretty much in heaven. i told the firemen that they should have just shown him their truck first and then he would have trusted them with his life!
the kids waited in line to climb up in the back seat.
when they climbed out the other side they got a fire hat and badge sticker. don't let the face fool you. cody loved checking out every part of the fire truck.
he even wanted to get in line to climb inside again and agreed to hold isaac for a picture.
