christmas is upon us, our favorite time of year

luckily our kids are still small enough to anticipate christmas without losing sleep over it.  i'm sure one day we won't be so lucky.  

we started off our christmas morning with checking out our stockings.  we knew we'd have a late, big breakfast, so we stopped for a quick bite to make the rest of the morning a little less crazy.

(we each got one of those little construction trucks in our stockings, but cody immediately claimed them all as his)

cody was, as always, everyone's best helper.

(cody and isaac got that massager for ryan and cody kept calling it his 'jack.'  i couldn't figure our why until ryan opened it on christmas and i realized i looks like the jacks we played with as kids)

the only thing cody asked for this christmas was cowboy boots and a cowboy hat.  we tried some boots on at the store in october or so and the only way i could get him to even take them off was to tell him he could ask santa to bring him some...which he remembered and did :)

since cody wanted the boots and hat, we decided to make them some stick horses as well.  they were fun and not nearly has hard to make as i expected.  

the bishop grandparents gave us a swingset for our backyard.  when we went outside to see it, cody said 'it's swings! it's swings and a slide!!"  later he kept calling it our park.

its so fun to watch your kids enjoy their new things as they open them.

david and julie brought their family up for a very late brunch and spent the day playing with our new toys.  the farnsworth's (friends from residency) came up for dinner.  it was a wonderful, relaxing day.  we're so glad to have friends and family here to share it with!

since annie, mom and dad, and beth's family were all together in rock springs at beth's house and david's family was with us, mom wanted us to take a picture at each place so it would be like we had a family picture.  not too often that we're all in two places, let alone one!

cody and isaac had christmas jammies from the varga grandparents to wear to bed christmas night.  cody hasn't had footie jammies in a long time, so he thought they were isaac's and didn't want to wear them at first.  he loves how snuggly they are and he's asked for his dinosaur jammies every night since!
