we had a busy weekend getting started in the christmas spirit. i set up the christmas decorations earlier this week while everyone was sleeping, but saved the tree for ryan and cody to help decorate.
it was entrancing for isaac when he saw the lit-up, decorated tree the next morning. i'd love to say he was happy looking on from a distance, but he definitely wanted to check it out up close often.
our ward party was friday night. ryan, isaac, and i were asked to play joseph, jesus, and mary in the nativity production we put on.
we had a great little cast and everyone said the play was great.
on saturday morning, cody's friend, julie-anna had her third birthday party. she is the first friend cody ever mentioned from nursery class and he talks about her all the time. he loved going to her birthday party (especially since it was mickey mouse clubhouse theme - his very favorite!). good food, fun games, great friends. a hit on all accounts.
saturday evening was lone star's fancy christmas dinner/party. a couple of hours before, tara called and told me that she'd heard it was a dress-up/black tie event, so we were a bit worried about being way underdressed. i put in a last minute call to a friend down the street who happened to have a little black dress i could borrow. we ended up being right in the middle of those really dressed up and those not dressed up hardly at all.
it was fun to get out and do something fancy together. the appetizers were awesome, even if the rest of the food wasn't great. they had a photo booth for fun pictures and they had dancing (which i couldn't convince ryan to do).
we actually ended up leaving right after the award presentation and dessert and did a good chunk of christmas shopping since we already had a babysitter. now to creating and wrapping!
