we had a busy easter weekend. made more busy by the fact that ryan was on call (which means he was working) all weekend.
cody got this train for christmas and when we got it all set up, the train's engine wouldn't work. we tried all kinds of things, but couldn't get it to work. it has been sitting on the bathroom counter in our room for months waiting for some genius idea to try. isaac got ahold of it one day and dropped it on the floor. a few days later, cody turned it on and it drove across the floor! we hurried out and set up the track (that i kept meaning to get rid of) while it still worked. i even made a little video for ryan to see, just in case it stopped working. low and behold, it has been working all week and gets set up multiple times a day. now i'm just trying to teach cody how to set it up by himself so i don't always have to do it!
isaac has become a bit more of my 'best helper' this last week. he has discovered the kitchen stool and loves to get up and see what's going on.
saturday, we went over to the read's house for a bbq. they adopted austin a little over a year ago. the adoption was finalized a couple of weeks ago, so they had austin sealed to them this weekend. the bbq was a great way to get together and celebrate with friends.
cody couldn't get enough of austin's swing set. he had so much fun climbing and playing with his nursery buddies, austin and cash.
we decided we would get the boys little sandboxes for easter.
they loved looking at all the sand toys. cody wanted to go right out and play, but we waited until monday to get the sand.
i kept up with tradition and made the boys matching ties for easter sunday. cody really loves neck ties lately, so he was so excited to see his! it sure is hard to get two little boys to smile, look at you, and hold still long enough for a good picture on your own!
isaac just kept coming to see how the pictures turned out, so i snapped one of him as he looked at the screen.
i had a friend snap a quick picture of us at church in our matching clothes since i knew they wouldn't last too long after church!
i resolved that i did not want to spend easter alone (since ryan was working), so i invited david and marianne up with their families. marianne and julie both brought some eggs for the kids, so david and landon set up a hunt in the back yard for them. great fun and excitement was had by all!
ryan was home today, so we took a trip to the hardware store and got our sand. even though we had a sand box for each boy, they both dug in to one together!
isaac will need a little practice, as most of his scoopfuls end up either on the cement or over his head!
